Ok, I know 7/31/74 is the longest according to some, and I've found that the Closing of Winterland is another long show, but does anyone have a definite longest Grateful Dead show on tape?? I am just curious to know what it is!

12-31-81 has four sets, that might be the longest

From what I can remember I always thought the NYE shows at Kaiser were really long shows. Not because they came on late or timed the 2nd set for 12am, but just in length and song selection and maybe a guest or 2. Also wouldn't one of shows from the Lyceum come close I know 1 of those is also really long besides having quality sound?

The Lyceum show performed on 5-23-72 barely hits the 200-minute mark. You probably meant the 5-26-72 show which is famous for the first set being long and marvelous. This first set was punctuated by NFA > GDTRFB, arguably the best one ever played and recorded on tape. The runtime for 5-26-72 is a puny 220 minutes, give or take a couple of minutes, an hour shy of 281 minutes. You're not even close.

Often, the show's text file includes track times and runtimes. If not there, try loading the files or streams from your "longest show" picks into your media player. Add all the track times. Post the info here. Is that too much to ask?

Here's my Boxed Set list for GD shows on NYE available on The Archive. Which show is longer than 281 minutes?

The Archive has a 'runtime' statistic which is the total time of all tracks summed together.

7/31/74 falls way short of being the longest show. The runtime for the Aud is a paltry 238 minutes and 32.16 seconds.

12/31/81 has a runtime of 246 minutes and 58.33 seconds

6/10/73 has a runtime that's 43 minutes longer than 7/31/74. The runtime for my Aud is 281 minutes and 37.06 seconds.

Nice list but some quibbles. That Miller verson of 4-28-71 includes a 74 minute pre show press conference. 10-30-70 is two shows on the same night and includes two New Riders sets. 6-7-75 is a compilation of various rehearsals.

Another good reason to bump 6-10-73 ;D
